Arturo Vidal was first of the Mohicans for [/sport/teampages/barcelona.html Barcelona], taking just two minutes to get their title charge right back on track with a glancing header against Mallorca.
His goal laid the foundations for a 4-0 win with [/sport/lionelmessi/index.html Lionel Messi] getting on the scoresheet to make it 20 league goals for the season.
Vidal is up for sale as Barcelona desperately try to find money to fund summer signings but, going for his ninth consecutive league title, the Chilean never lets the uncertainty affect his performance and when Jordi Alba crossed from the left after Frenkie de Jong had won the ball back, he glanced a header past Manolo Reina.

Another player with plenty to prove got the second goal. Martin Braithwaite is sick of hearing he is only at Barcelona to fill in while other players get fit. He started this one with Luis Suarez waiting on the bench and when Lionel Messi headed the ball to him in the area on 37 minutes he shot into the roof of the net for his first goal for the club.
Suarez did appear in the second half coming on in minute 55, five months after he stopped for a knee operation. The Uruguayan never expected to play a meaningful part in the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.
The game was full of surprises with 21-year-old Ronaldo Araujo starting in centre-defence in the absence of Clement Lenglet, 84.96.107.210 and there was a pitch invader making a second half beeline for Messi.

The decision to play Araujo will cast further doubt on the future of Samuel Umtiti who had been expected to start in Lenglet's place.
Questions, meanwhile, will be asked as to how the pitch invader was able to break through security when the coronavirus has made getting into grounds impossible for all fans.
Mallorca had their chances. Pozo shot just wide in the second half and a fine first half save from Marc Andre ter Stegen kept out a shot from Take Kubo.

But Barcelona also had chances to extend their lead. Braithwaite might have scored a second but his shot from another Messi assist was pushed just wide by Reina. Aruajo also hit the frame of the goal.
The third goal came with 10 minutes left when Jordi Alba connected with Messi and just evaded the off-side trap to beat Reina.
Messi then got the fourth linking with Suarez and scoring his 20th league goal of the season.

It was a happy return for Barcelona. Ivan Rakitic came on for his 300th appearance for the club and there were even minutes for Nelson Semedo who broke lockdown rules last week and was forced to train alone but got minutes in the second half.
It was a routine win and few would have expected them to drop points against third from bottom Mallorca.
But they now go five points clear of Real Madrid ahead of their game tomorrow with Eibar and it will be lost on no one that Madrid played in San Moix earlier in the season and were beaten 1-0.
